Drawn in Bristol supports and profiles Bristol based illustrators.
Our portfolio features a selection of images from members of our collective.
Forming in 2011, Drawn in Bristol secured a large open-plan studio space, inside Stokes Croft’s Hamilton House. This provided a physical base for some of the collective. The studio space has expanded since it’s launch and now plays host to over 30 illustrators and designers.
Included in the same studio is an affordable screen-printing facility for use by its studio members. In 2012 the screen-printing studio opened it’s membership to print-makers outside of the Drawn in Bristol collective, to encourage collaborations and connections within the city. In 2013 we collaborated with Spike Print Studio in operating The Print Shop.
Drawn in Bristol have hosted, organised and supported a staggering amount of exhibitions, primarily in Bristol, but a few further afield. There have been a range of solo shows for some members, plus several themed group shows.
Working with local clients is another focus of the collective and highlights have included work with Bristol’s Big Green Week, Edwards, EMI, Bristol Old Vic and several local design companies.
The collective initiates its own projects, highlights include a Bristol calendar (for 2013), which featured 12 of the members producing a two-colour screenprint for a month of the year. Limited to an edition of 80, the calendar sold-out quickly and launched with a successful exhibition at Colston Hall’s ‘The Glass Room’. A range of greetings cards, on a variety of themes, has also been produced and distributed to various retailers around Bristol.
